Low allergenicity
DermaShield® provides a massive
reduction of potential skin reactions
and allergies. It minimises the risks of:
• Type IV allergies, because it is
free of accelerators
• Type I allergies, because it is
free of natural rubber latex
High standard of protection
Its poly-chloroprene composition offers
a high level of resistance to ethanol and
isopropanol. It is an ideal choice for
handling cytostatics (see brochure:
ACPP: Ansell Cytostatic Permeation
Program). Quality control is assured by
AQL inspection methods: 0.65 for
pinholes (water leak test) before
packing. Moreover, in rigorous
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
testing, the DermaShield® is certified
to EN 420 and EN 374.

Convenience and ease of use
Thanks to its unique formulation of
poly-chloroprenes, DermaShield®
offers comfort comparable to natural
rubber latex with excellent flexibility
and elongation. Wearers enjoy
greater dexterity and a natural fit
that matches their hands. The glove’s
synthetic polyurethane inner coating
makes donning easy. Its special
external surface treatment, as well
as constant grip value monitoring
online and during post-processing,
ensure consistent and adept handling
of products. Moreover, the long
cuff gives extra wrist and forearm
protection.
Ansell Cytostatic Permeation Program (ACPP)
According to the World Health
Organisation, between now and
2020 the cancer rate will rise by 50%
to about 15 million new cases a year
worldwide. This sharp increase will
mainly be due to ageing populations,
current smoking habits and growing
numbers of people with unhealthy
lifestyles. One of the most frequently
used treatments for cancer is
chemotherapy. Unfortunately it is well known that cytostatic agents
are potentially hazardous for the
manipulator (pharmacist assistant,
nurse and surgeon, etc.). Cytostatics
are recognised to be mutagenic,
carcinogenic and teratogenic. Other
potential effects include decreased
fertility, foetal malformation, abortion,
extra-uterine pregnancy and high
toxicity for certain organs.
To help address the risks of cytostatics
to healthcare workers, Ansell has
established the Ansell Cytostatic
Permeation Program*.
• To contribute to better protection
for healthcare personnel
handling cytostatics
• To present results corresponding
to real-life condition
